New ways to showcase Christian Louboutin
The name says it all. This past December, The Dodo and The Dinosaur opened its doors in central Milan, the latest in a growing crop of “ethical” companies – promoting animal-free product that conforms to fair labor policies – that are popping up in the christian louboutin world. The boutique, located at 5 via Sottocorno, is the brainchild of 28-year-old Gemma Thomas Andena. “You can explain the opening of my shop as a reaction to what I see around me,” Andena said. “The city is obsessed with leather and fur and is dominated by the big Italian christian louboutin shoes houses. There is an ignorance of how material is produced and the inhumane ways in which animals are killed.” Since the ethical christian louboutin discount movement is evolving at the same slow pace as the eco-christian louboutin discount industry, Andena said it’s difficult to find merchandise for her store.
The collaboration trend shows no signs of slowing. British christian louboutin shoes designer Olivia Morris is joining forces with U.K. footwear chain Faith Christian louboutin to design a six-style collection for spring ‘07. Called FaithSolo by Olivia Morris, the line includes black patent and gold leather pumps embellished with colorful crystals; fisherman-style sandals; and chunky platform sandals and peep-toes featuring deck chair-inspired stripes (below). Retail prices range between $100 and $170. “Faith is the only British High Street store that truly knows what it is doing when it comes to footwear,” Morris said about the British christian shoes chain, which operates 83 U.K. doors and 22 stores and shop-in-shops in the Middle East. “They have the history and the knowledge to produce fantastic christian louboutin at amazing prices.” Morris isn’t the only British designer involved in a cut-price collaboration. Georgina Goodman’s louboutin shoes collection for Evans (part of the Arcadia Group, which operates Top Shop), which launched this past fall, has received rave reviews.
